The 2019 Training Course on Microeconometrics with Applications in Stata took place in Dakar from December 3-6, 2019. The course was taught by Manuel Hernandez of IFPRI and covered linear regressions, IV estimations, nonlinear models, panel data and more.

Agricultural Technology Adoption and Impact Analysis Training Course

AGRODEP, together with the Fondation pour Les Études et Recherches Sur le Développement International (FERDI) and CORAF, held a training course on Agricultural Technology Adoption and Impact Analysis in Dakar from November 5-9, 2019. The objective of this course was to build capacity of African researchers and policy-makers for the design of agricultural policies and their evaluations.

AGRODEP Africa CFTA Workshop and AATM Authors' Workshop

From November 12-15, 2018, AGRODEP hosted a workshop on the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) at the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) regional office in Dakar. The workshop aimed: (a) to present recent and ongoing research related to the CFTA and to regional integration in Africa, (b) to launch an AGRODEP expert group for policy analysis and advisory services (PAAS) in the area of trade and regional integration, and (c) to discuss research questions and priorities and innovative research methodologies to support evidence-based policy recommendations.

The last two days of the workshop were devoted to a refresher training course on methods and models used in trade analysis.

Following the AfCFTA workshop, an authors' workshop was held for the participants of the Africa Agriculture Trade Monitor (AATM) on November 16.

2017 AGRODEP training course - Policy Analysis and Innovations in Value Chains

AGRODEP hosted a training course in late 2017 focused on Policy Analysis and Innovations in Value Chains. The course was held from December 19-20, 2017 in Dakar, Senegal. Tanguy Bernard and Gasahw Tadesse Abate, both of IFPRI, taught the two-day course.

2013 AGRODEP training course - Impact Evaluation and Analysis of Development Interventions

The first 2013 AGRODEP training course, Impact Evaluation and Analysis of Development Interventions, was held at IFPRI Dakar office on May 13-18, 2013. This course intended to provide African-based researchers with knowledge of the latest developments regarding both technical and topical aspects of impact evaluation. The course was also meant to help build a high-level network of local impact evaluation practitioners and partners of within the region. A follow up course will be offered in Fall 2013.

2016 AGRODEP training course - MIRAGRODEP-AEZ

AGRODEP hosted the last course of 2016, Multi-country, Multi-Sector General Equilibrium Analysis: MIRAGRODEP-AEZ from December 13-15, 2016 in Dakar. Participants were trained on the MIRAGRODEP-AEZ model, built by IFPRI under PARI. David Laborde and Fousseini Traore, both of IFPRI, taught the course.

2016 AGRODEP training course - Tools for Value Chain Analysis

AGRODEP offered a training course on Tools for Value Chain Analysis on March 29 - April 1, 2016. The two-part course featured the Women's Empowerment in Agriculture Index (WEAI) and the Participatory Market Chain Approach (PMCA), and was taught by Hazel Malapit (IFPRI) and Sarah Mayanja (CIP), respectively. Twelve members of the AGRODEP Value Chain Analysis group participated in the course.

2016 AGRODEP training course - Losses along Food Value Chains

AGRODEP offered a training course on Losses along Value Chains on October 17-19, 2016 in Accra. The course focused on key concepts and issues related to food loss and waste along value chains, and was taught by Maximo Torero (IFPRI), Monica Schuster (U Antwerp), and Luciana Delgado (IFPRI).

The latest addition to AGRODEP's course offerings, Augmented Gravity Models, was held in Dakar, Senegal from October 5-9, 2015. Participants were provided with a hands-on introduction to gravity modeling which included the theoretical foundation, empericial strategies, and importance of correct specification of gravity models.

17th Annual Conference on Global Economic Analysis

The 17th Annual Conference on Global Economic Analysis, held in Dakar on June 18-20, 2014, was co-hosted by GTAP and AGRODEP. The theme of this year's conference was "New Challenges in Food Policy, Trade and Economic Vulnerability." Nearly 30 AGRODEP members were invited to attend the conference and many of them had the opportunity to present their research.

2014 AGRODEP training courses - Advanced CGE Modeling

The 2014 Training Course series on Advanced CGE Modeling was held in Dakar on June 16-17 and June 22, 2014 surrounding the 2014 GTAP conference. The first portion focused on IFPRI and PEP models and the second course was co-sponsored by the World Bank and covered regional trade integration. The first two days were taught by Ismael Fofana and Fousseini Traore, and the last day was taught by David Tarr and Thomas Rutherford.
