The 170th seminar of the European Association of Agricultural Economics (EAAE) will take place in Montpellier on May 15-17, 2019. The topic of the seminar is: “Governance of food chains and consumption dynamics: what are the impacts on food security and sustainability?” The seminar is organized by the joint research unit Moisa which gathers lecturers and researchers from Cirad, Iamm, Inra and Supagro, and is part of Montpellier University of Excellence (Muse). It will take place at Montpellier Supagro.
The seminar will help assess the conditions for more mutually beneficial incentives and interactions between the different stakeholders in the chains, including consumers, leading to more sustainable mechanisms of food provisioning and consumption. It will shed light on the “missing middle” between food consumption and production, which is more often invisible and unsupported rather than missing. Particular attention will be paid to the issue of how public and private strategies and governance can gear food chain and consumption dynamics towards increased food security and sustainability by changing the stakeholders’ range of options in terms of the diversity and affordability of proposed food items and formats.
The submission deadline for this seminar has been extended until January 15, 2019.
Participants who would like to present a paper are requested to send a full text, between 6,000 and 8,500 words, through https://seminaire.inrae.fr/eaae170/, where further information on the seminar can be found. Poster abstracts can be submitted.
