Researcher (agricultural economics, international profile)
It is a full-time position within the project ‘Impact of meat and milk product exports on developing countries (IMMPEX)’. The position is limited to 31.12.2021 and is to be filled as soon as possible.
The aim of the project is to investigate the impact of German exports of poultry meat and dairy products on the agricultural sectors in two selected African countries (e.g. Ghana). The project is carried out in close cooperation between the Thünen Institutes for Market Analysis and Farm Economics. In addition, cooperation with African and international partner organizations is planned. Several trips abroad, including to Ghana, are planned.
Tasks
Conception, implementation and evaluation of standardized consumer surveys
Systematic analysis of consumer demand for dairy and meat products
Planning, evaluation and conducting of expert interviews (e.g. with state institutions, companies)
Analysis of the organization, infrastructure and logistics of the value chain, including domestic and imported products
Preparation, publication and presentation of the results for science, business, politics and the public
Your professional profile
University degree (Univ.-Dipl./M.Sc.) in agricultural sciences with a focus on agricultural economics, economics, business informatics, social sciences or comparable subjects, doctorate preferred
Knowledge and practical experience in conducting surveys and interviews
Knowledge and experience in the application of quantitative methods of empirical social research
Experience in handling large data sets and databases
Personal requirements profile
International experience in West or Central Africa
Experience in working in multicultural teams
Flexibility, team spirit, pronounced ability to cooperate
Very good written and spoken English, knowledge of German and French is an advantage
Willingness to travel and carry out surveys in Senegal and Ghana
