New Funding and Conference Opportunities

The AGRODEP team would like to announce the following funding and conference opportunities. We encourage all AGRODEP members to look into these opportunities and apply if eligible:

1. Call for Submissions, 4th International Conference of African Association of Agricultural Economists. The AAAE is calling for submissions for contributed papers, organized symposia, and pre- and post-conference and learning workshops as part of its 4th Annual Conference. For contributed papers, the submission deadline is April 19, 2013. Proposals for organized symposia are due by May 3, 2013 and should include a brief description of topics to be discussed, the format of the session, and how the session ties into the Conference theme, "Commercializing Agriculture in Africa: Social, Economic and Environmental Impacts”. Proposals for the pre- and post-conference and learning workshops are also due by May 3, 2013.

2. IDRC Call for Concept Notes: Collaborative Research on Climate Change Adaptation in Africa and Asia. This call welcomes concept notes for the establishment of research consortia under the Collaborative Adaptation Research Initiative in Africa and Asia (CARIAA). Details about the call, eligibility, and how to apply are included in the CARIAA call document. Consortia selected through the competitive process outlined in section 7 of the call will receive grants of up to CA$15 million to conduct a common research program on climate change adaptation. Applications must be received at IDRC by April 4, 2013 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. Applicants should include only the following documents:  

  • Application: Completed template
  • Declarations of Eligibility and Institutional Endorsement: minimum of three and maximum of five completed and signed templates
  • Costed Workplan: Completed templates
3. ERAfrica Joint Call for Proposals on Renewable Energies. This call aims at funding projects addressing renewable energy topics; proposals will be selected based on scientific excellence, solid regional and bi-regional scientific partnerships, and potential economic and social impact. The call will fund three types of activities: collaborative research projects, collaborative innovation projects, and capacity building. Descriptions of these types of activities can be found in the call document. The call is open only to researchers working at an eligible institution in the following African countries:
  • Burkina Faso
  • Cote D'Ivoire
  • Egypt
  • Kenya
  • South Africa

The deadline for proposal submission is April 15, 2013.
