I am full of appreciation to the organisers of the just concluded Training Course on Poverty Measurement and Analysis Most of the issues taught by the Instructor Prof Gibson were topical and I learnt so much that has enriched my knowledge on Households survey designs, data collection, poverty and growth analyses. I will particularly recommend development economist to get copies of the training from the AGRODEP site. Its very useful. Even within the limited training time, we were trained to understand ways to alleviating countries survey and other data design and collection problems. One cannot forget (1) the problems mentioned to be associated with countries Household survey datasets and the need to checkmate panel data with the cross sectional ones,(2) the urgent need tocollaborate relevant researchers into countries household surveys designs and data collection and the need to expand the scope of variables covered by these surveys. There were also sessions on the use of the povcal software and Stata 13 for poverty vis-à-vis growth simulation analysis. We also got to appraise various countries households and other survey, designs and policies as shared by our trainee colleagues from other countries.
Special thanks to IFPRI, AGRODEP and all AGRODEP staffs and partners. Thanks for providing logistics and funding for the training. Thanks to Antoine, Fofana, Alima, Alhassane and all IFPRI Dakar and Le-virage hotel staff
