"An astonishing 43 percent of Zambia’s 13.3 million population – or 5.2 million individuals, are undernourished and live on a per capita daily caloric intake of 1 885. Children, in turn, suffer dire consequences of undernourishment, as 50 percent are malnourished to the extent that it stunts their growth, while 20 percent are underweight. The life expectancy in Zambia is a mere 45 years of age."
