Title: New Country and Region-Led Efforts and Partnerships for Enhancing Resilience and Building Growth in the Horn of Africa
About seminar: USAID, together with the IGAD, the African Union, and a number of other development partners, co-hosted a Joint Ministerial and High-Level Development Partners Meeting on Drought Resilience in the Horn of Africa. The meeting took place on April 4, 2012 in Nairobi, Kenya, and provided support for African-led country and region-level programming on ending drought emergencies in the Horn. It resulted in the formation of a new partnership to promote resilience against disasters: The Global Alliance for Action for Drought Resilience and Growth.
At the CAADP meeting in May, a follow up action plan will be discussed, as well as plan for a regional donor coordination arrangement that will link with the CAADP headquarters donor partners group. Join USAID to learn more about the outcomes of the April meeting and discuss opportunities for civil society engagement in the new efforts for enhancing resilience and building growth in the Horn of Africa.
