In partnership with the United Kingdom’s Department for International Development and The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, the International Development Research Centre has launched a call for research proposals on Growth and Economic Opportunities for Women (GrOW) – generating evidence on women’s economic empowerment, gender equality and growth in low-income countries.
With a focus on sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia, this research program seeks to develop innovative ways for evidence to promote better policies and outcomes for women and for societies as a whole. With a focus on low-income countries in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia, the program will produce high-quality evidence on three sets of inter-related questions:
- What are the nature and magnitude of barriers to women’s economic empowerment and to closing gender gaps in earnings and productivity? How can these barriers be overcome?
- How do specific patterns of economic growth and types of structural change affect women’s economic empowerment and gender equality?
- How do women's economic empowerment and gender equality affect economic growth?
The deadline for application is October 25, 2013. Learn more about the program and apply online.
