On April 2, the 2012 Innovation Challenges funded by The Rockefeller Foundation launched as part of the Foundation's centennial celebration. The innovation Challenges seek knowledge and innovative ideas that will solve problems for the next 100 years.

FARMING NOW
The engagement of younger generations in farming can stimulate greater economic growth through agriculture and to provide the world with a safe, abundant and affordable food supply. The success in this global challenge is in part dependent upon increasing sustainable, local food production and consumption. In some instances, economic conditions and climate change make farming a dying and/or unsustainable profession. In other instances, younger generations are not choosing farming as a profession due to unfavorable cultural perceptions. To secure our food supply for the future we must encourage and help young farmers to become more productive, more resilient and more profitable in a rapidly changing world.

It is open for individuals, groups, communities, organizations that might be interested in submitting to the challenges. 9 finalists wil be eligible for $100,000 grants. The deadline to enter is May 25.
