CountrySTAT Kenya
The Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) is the principal agency of the government involved in the collection, analysis and dissemination of statistical data and also acts as the official source for statistical information. The national government mandate for official data publication and dissemination on the CountrySTAT web site is with the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) with very close collaboration with KNBS. MoA has the mandate to produce production statistics on crops; Ministry of Livestock Development (MoLD) is responsible for the production of Livestock statistics and its related indicators, while Ministry of Fisheries Development (MoFD) is responsible for the data on Fisheries and other Indicators in the sub-sector. Different data sets are aggregated and validated at the TWG meeting before they are published in the CountrySTAT site. KNBS is represented in both the Technical Working Group (TWG) and Secretariat to ensure the quality of the official data to be disseminated. It is through the MoA and KNBS that the QUALITY of the published data is ensured.
