AGRODEP held its annual Members' Workshop on November 19-20 in Dakar, Senegal. The Scientific Advisory Board (SAB), Steering Committee (SC), and Network Advisory Committee (NAC) met on November 18.
Twenty-one AGRODEP members were invited to attend this year's workshop to present work for which they have received AGRODEP grants; twenty members attended the event. The presentations covered a wide range of research topics, from potential climate change impacts and the natural resource curse to price volatility and women's education. Presenters have received Research Valorization grants and Seed Fund grants, and have submitted proposals for the 2013 AGRODEP Innovative Research grants.
Kabir Kayode Salman of the University of Ibadan had this to say about the workshop:
"It happened again . . . an event that is very rare in Africa, a capacity building, motivating, skill acquisition and networking programme organized by a unique training and research facilitating outfit"
Fakayode Bamidele of the Federal University of Oye-Ekiti, Nigeria said:
" It was very educative and inspiring throughout the two days. Innovative and other contemporary research was presented and fine tuned by experts. . . They made constructive comments and suggestions after each presentation and showed great enthusiasm towards making our ideas better."
