HarvestChoice Country Dashboard

HarvestChoice is a research initiative which generates information to help guide strategic investments in agriculture aimed at improving the well‐being of poor people in Sub-Saharan Africa through more productive and profitable farming. The initiative is coordinated by the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) and the University of Minnesota and is supported by a grant by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

The HarvestChoice country dashboard provides a one-page view of national time-series and sub-national statistics for 52 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa. Statistics are aggregated across geographic domains, including administrative units, agro-ecological zones, farming systems, time-to-market zones, and low to high population density areas.

The dashboard includes the following information:
1. Status and Trend (1980-2010)
2. Dominant Farming Systems - All, 2000
3. Top 10 Crops - Harvested Area (ha), 2000
4. Population by Time to Market and Agro-Ecological Zone (2005)
5. Total Land (ha) by District across Dominant Farming Systems

Data are obainted from FAOStat, ReSAKSS, ASTI, IFPRI, and HarvestChoice.
