“Namibia’s life expectancy is a rather low 61 years of age, having increased at a snail’s pace from an already low 53 years of age in 1980. Despite this, Namibia’s food security issues are curbed by a strong agricultural labour force, which, at 905 000 comes to 41 percent of Namibia’s 2.2 million population. Agriculture’s dominant role is further illustrated by the fact that 71 percent of the share of total water goes to agricultural use, and that almost 8 percent of Namibia’s GDP consists agricultural production.”
