2014 Training Course Assessing Crop Production, Nutrient Management, Climatic Risk and Environmental Sustainability with Simulation Models was held at IFPRI Dakar office from April 7 - 11, 2014. Participants were introduced to the DSSAT model and its applications including the evaluation of crop systems by instructors Gerrit Hoogenboom and Jawoo Koo.

2014 AGRODEP training courses - Poverty Measurement and Analysis
The first 2014 AGRODEP training course, Poverty Measurement and Analysis, was held at IFPRI Dakar office from January 8-10, 2014. This course provided hands-on training in applied poverty analysis. Lecture material was supplemented with empirical exercises that are designed to illustrate some of the points made and improve your skills in data analysis, using both Stata and Excel.

2013 AGRODEP training courses - GAMS-Based CGE Models (Basic)
The sixth 2013 AGRODEP training course, GAMS-Based CGE Models (Basic), is being held at ILRI Addis Ababa Campus (Ethiopia) from December 9-20, 2013. This course intends to develop the participants’ expertise in understanding and building multi-sector computable general equilibrium (CGE) models, which are used to analyze the microeconomic impact of macroeconomic shocks and policies on a national economy.

The seventh 2013 AGRODEP training course, Impact Evaluation and Analysis of Development Interventions II, is being held at IFPRI Dakar office on December 16-20, 2013. This course intends to provide African-based researchers with knowledge of the latest developments regarding both technical and topical aspects of impact evaluation. The course is also meant to help build a high-level network of local impact evaluation practitioners and partners of within the region.

The third annual AGRODEP Members' Workshop
The third annual AGRODEP Members' Workshop was held in Dakar, Senegal from November 19 through November 20, 2013. Twenty-one invited AGRODEP members gave presentations covering a wide variety of African-focused research topics. Members had the opportunity to receive feedback from experts and interact with the AGRODEP network.

The fifth 2013 AGRODEP training course, Applied Microeconometrics, was held at IFPRI Dakar office on October 1-3, 2013. This course provided participants an extensive range of up-to-date statistical and econometric techniques to analyze microeconomic data.

2013 AGRODEP training courses - Applied Panel Data Econometrics
The fourth 2013 AGRODEP training course, Applied Panel Data Econometrics, was held at IFPRI Dakar office on September 9-13, 2013. The training course was focusing on understanding the nuances of panel data estimators and the empirical implications that manifest, integrating their data into R and constructing appropriate panel data models, and rigorously interpreting to provide sound policy insights.

2013 AGRODEP training course - Evaluation of public policies
The third 2013 AGRODEP training course, Evaluation of public policies, was held at Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso) on July 1-3, 2013. The training course is focusing on particular techniques that can be used to address endogeneity or selectivity issues: Difference-in difference estimators (OLS, Tobit, etc.), Propensity score matching, regression-discontinuity design, etc.

2012 AGRODEP training course - Household Survey Data
The fifth 2012 AGRODEP training course, Household Survey Data, was held on October 8-10 at the IFPRI-Dakar office. This training enabled the participants to gain familiarity with the general issues and procedures involved in collecting multi-topic household survey data, and to work independently using their preferred software, although the course focused on applications in Stata.

2012 Network Advisory Committee Meeting
The Network Advisory Committee (NAC) meeting was held on June 23 at the IFPRI-Dakar office in Senegal. The NAC is a consultative group of individuals representing key African institutions that are active in the area of economic growth and policy research and capacity building.

The second 2013 AGRODEP training course, Estimation of the economic impact of high food prices using micro data, is being held at IFPRI Dakar office on May 28-30, 2013. Participants of this proposed training are learning how to conduct estimations of the economic impact of simulated food price changes at the household level.

2012 AGRODEP Training Course - Multi-Country, Multi-Sector General Equilibrium Analysis: MIRAGRODEP
The eighth 2012 AGRODEP training course, Multi-Country, Multi-Sector General Equilibrium Analysis: MIRAGRODEP, was held at IFPRI Dakar office on December 17-19, 2012. The training course examined the global economy in its entirety, taking into account the interaction between all markets and income effects. It focused on the simultaneous formation of equilibrium on all markets.
2012 AGRODEP training course - GAMS-based Computable General Equilibrium Modeling (advanced)
The seventh 2012 AGRODEP training course, GAMS-BASED COMPUTABLE GENERAL EQUILIBRIUM MODELING (ADVANCED), was held on December 3-5 in Pretoria, South Africa. This training covers theoretical presentations as well as hands-on exercises including the overall structure of PEP 1-1 and 1-t and prgramming and running simulation using GAMS.
