"Gambia needs to see radical improvement in crucial areas including life expectancy (registered at 56 in 2008), child mortality (103 per 1 000 live births in 2009), as well as child malnutrition, which as of 2008 leaves 20 percent of children underweight and 22 percent with stunted growth. An overall 19 percent of the population is undernourished, although the majority of Gambians work in agriculture. Gambia’s total agricultural exports are higher than its imports of the same."
