AGRODEP is pleased to announce the selected proposals for the 2014 Gaps in Research Grant. The theme for this call was “Using trade for development.” Applicants were encouraged to focus on investment in infrastructure or trade, African regional integration schemes, or the measurement of informal trade and policy responses.
Submitted proposals were reviewed in several rounds by IFPRI senior research staff. Three excellent proposals were selected and agreed upon by the reviewers as well as the AGRODEP Management Team and Scientific Advisory Board. AGRODEP will offer funding to each of the following groups:
- Joachim Jarreau, Cristina Mitaritonna, and Sami Bensassi. “Informal Trade in Benin, Togo and Nigeria: determinants and impacts on price transmission”
- Houssem-Eddine Chebbi, Abdessalem Abbassi, and Lota Dabio Tamini. “Investigating market integration in North Africa: A gravity-border effect approach”
- Mireille Ntsama Etoundi and Christian Ebeke. “Does the distance still matter for agricultural trade in Sub-Saharan Africa?”
Congratulations to those who were selected and thank you to all those who participated in the call.
