Lesson 2 introduces users to the basic syntax employed in GAMS. A hands-on exploration of common parts of GAMS programs, in this lesson a sample code partially based on Rosenthal’s “GAMS Users’ Guide” is used to solve a linear programming (LP) problem. This example focuses on the use of main building blocks of GAMS, such as SET, PARAMETER, TABLE, VARIABLE, EQUATIONS, MODEL, and SOLVE declarations, statements, and definitions.
