2017 Training Course - Policy Analysis and Innovations in Value Chains

AGRODEP is pleased to announce a new two-part training course on Policy Analysis and Innovations in Value Chains as part of the AGRODEP Value Chain Analysis Virtual Hub.

Value chain analysis (VCA) are increasingly promoted to guide agricultural policies in Sub-Saharan Africa. This two-day course will cover aspects of value chain analysis tools and detail a number of recent innovative interventions to lift value chains constraints, with a particular focus on increasing farmers’ well-being. The training will alternate lectures with exercises based on existing value chain data.


2017 AGRODEP Special Membership Call

AGRODEP is pleased to announce its seventh round of membership extension.  For this particular call, we strongly encourage applications from researchers who are engaged in or are strongly interested in learning more about trade policy analysis, value chain analysis, or agricultural transformation and investments. We also strongly encourage women and researchers from African countries which have low or zero representation in AGRODEP to apply. To be considered for membership, applicants must meet the following criteria:
  • Must be a citizen of an African country
  • Must be based in Africa
  • Must have obtained a Ph.D. within the last 15 years, currently be pursuing a Ph.D. degree, or possess a Master’s degree in combination with technical skills and experience.

Workshop on Modernization of African Agriculture

Several AGRODEP members have been selected to participate in a workshop on the modernization of African agriculture through the adoption of improved agricultural technologies. The event will be held from September 18-22 in Dakar and will be organized by Institut des Hautes Etudes du Développement Durable (IHEDD), in collaboration with Fondation pour les Etudes et Recherches sur le Développement International (FERDI), IFPRI, AGRODEP, Agricultural Technology Adoption Initiative (ATAI), and the World Bank.


2017 NAIP Clinics

Starting in 2016 and continuing into 2017, clinics have been organized by IFPRI's West and Central Africa Office to provide capacity building support for the appraisal of existing National Agricultural Investment Plans (NAIPs). The goal is to provide these expert African participants with the necessary tools to guide country officials in the design of new NAIPs.


2016 Training Course - Multi-Country, Multi-Sector General Equilibrium Analysis: MIRAGRODEP-AEZ

2016 Training Course - Tools for Value Chain Analysis

Overview

AGRODEP, with support from the CGIAR Research Program on Policies, Institutions, and Markets (PIM), is pleased to announce a new two-part training course on Tools for Value Chain Analysis as part of the AGRODEP Value Chain Analysis Virtual Hub. 
 
The first part of the course, the Women's Empowerment in Agriculture Index (WEAI), will be taught by Hazel Malapit and the second part of the course, Introduction to the Participatory Market Chain Approach (PMCA), will be taught by Sarah Mayanja. More information about these tools and the training course are provided below. Participants are expected to attend both parts of the course.
 

2016 AGRODEP Impact Evaluation Network Workshop

AGRODEP will hold a workshop on impact evaluation on March 7-8, 2016 with some members of the AGRODEP Impact Evaluation Network (AIEN) and impact evaluation practitioners in IFPRI and other Washington, DC-based organizations. Launched in 2012, the AIEN provides selected AGRODEP researchers with the latest technical and topical developments in the field of impact evaluation, with the goal of creating a robust network of highly trained impact evaluation practitioners in Africa. AIEN members will present their papers or proposals for constructive feedback, mutual learning, and potential mentorship or collaboration.
