HarvestChoice Country Dashboard of National/Sub-national Statistics
HarvestChoice is a research initiative which generates information to help guide strategic investments in agriculture aimed at improving the well‐being of poor people in Sub-Saharan Africa through more productive and profitable farming. The initiative is coordinated by the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) and the University of Minnesota and is supported by a grant by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
The HarvestChoice country dashboard provides a one-page view of national time-series and sub-national statistics for 52 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa. Statistics are aggregated across geographic domains, including administrative units, agro-ecological zones, farming systems, time-to-market zones, and low to high population density areas.
The dashboard includes the following information:
1. Status and Trend (1980-2010)
2. Dominant Farming Systems - All, 2000
3. Top 10 Crops - Harvested Area (ha), 2000
4. Population by Time to Market and Agro-Ecological Zone (2005)
5. Total Land (ha) by District across Dominant Farming Systems
Date can be viewed on the interactive map by selecting input parameters of country, variables, and farming systems.
